DIRECTOR (OPERATIONS) APPOINTED
Mr.S.Venkataramana (53) has been appointed Director (Operations) of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL). He assumed charge on October 3.
Mr. S.Venkataramana is an M.Tech with Distinction in Chemical Engineering from A.C.College of Technology, Anna University, Chennai and possess an M.B.A. Degree. He started his career in Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited at its Visakh Refinery in 1982 before joining CPCL in 1986. In CPCL, he worked in various departments like Operations, Technical Services, Research & Development and also as the Executive Assistant to Chairman & Managing Director. As the leader of the commissioning team, played an active role in the successful commissioning of CPCL’s 3 MMTPA expansion cum modernization project in 2004, which earned commendation from the entire oil industry in the country.
As an Refinery Member of Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD), Mr.Venkataramana has conducted External Safety Audit of various refineries like IOC Koyali, HPCL Visakh and MRPL. Widely travelled to Europe, USA, Middle East and Far East, Mr.Venkataramana has presented research papers in National and International Seminars. He has also been a panelist in various technical sessions organized by CHT, PETROTECH etc. Mr.Venkataramana served as the Operations Head of Kuwait National Petroleum Corporation, Shuaiba Refinery in Kuwait between 1995-1997.
Prior to this appointment, Mr.Venkataramana was General Manager (Operations) in CPCL.
Mr.Venkataramana is married and has two sons.
