FIRE SERVICE DAY CELEBRATED AT CPCL
Fire Service Day was observed in Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) at its Manali Refinery on April 15.
Various fire fighting exercises were demonstrated exhibiting the potential of CPCL Fire Crew, in handling emergencies, utilising the different fire protection facilities and systems available in CPCL.
The Chief Guest of the function, Mr.R.Nataraj, Director General of Police & Director, Fire & Rescue Services, Govt. of Tamilnadu, expressed his appreciation on the fire-fighting systems and facilities in place at CPCL's Manali Refinery. He distributed the prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted as a part of Fire Service Week.
In his presidential address Mr. K.Balachandran, Managing Director, CPCL, emphasized the need for keeping vigil and remain alert while performing the duties. He urged the employees to work in unison and continue to make the refinery a safe place to work. The revised Fire protection Manual of CPCL was released by the Managing Director in the presence of the Chief Guest and the first copy was received by Mr.S.Chandrasekaran, Director (Technical), CPCL.
At the outset, Mr.Duraiswamy, Deputy General Manager (Maintenance), welcomed the gathering. Mr.V.Shankar, Chief Manager (Fire & Safety), read a report on the activities of 2009-10. Mr.B.Paneerselvam, Deputy General Manager (Refinery III), proposed a vote of thanks.
