INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT CPCL

Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (CPCL) Manali Refinery Complex this morning (15.08.2010). Mr.K.Balachandran, Managing Director, CPCL, unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at an impressive parade by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) contingent stationed at CPCL.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Balachandran stated that as crude oil gets more expensive and natural gas cheaper, there would be a huge incentive to use more natural gas in the transportation sector powering buses, medium-duty trucks and light-duty vehicles that operate in urban environments close to fuelling stations.

Special Awards were presented to meritorious children of employees, long-service awards to employees and suggestion scheme awards and awards to highest blood donors. Tricycles, Hearig aids, Wheel Chairs and Caliphers were also distributed to disabled persons on the occasion.

A large number of CPCL employees and CISF personnel along with their family members participated in the celebrations. A cultural programme by the students’ added colour to the function.

Earlier, Mr.Balachandran hoisted the National Flag at CPCL’s Corporate Office at Teynampet.
