

MOCK DRILL CONDUCTED

A mock drill to check the effectiveness of the On-site Emergency Plan as approved by Chief Inspector of Factories, was conducted by Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited at its Manali Refinery near Chennai on 29.09.09. The scenario was a leak in the rundown line of one of the LPG Spheres in the Plant area.
The mock drill was conducted under the guidance of Mr. N. Umaithurai, Dy. Chief Inspector of Factories, Thiruvottriyur, Chennai, Govt. of Tamil Nadu. The Observers were posted at strategic locations to check the effectiveness. All the respective departments including Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) participated in Mock drill and played their roles effectively.
A debriefing session was held in the evening by Mr.K.K.Acharya, Managing Director, CPCL. Mr.Umaithurai, Dy. Chief Inspector of Factories, Mr.K.Balachandran, Director (Operations), CPCL and all other officials as per On-site Emergency Plan attended the meeting. The Dy. Chief Inspector of Factories, appreciated the efforts taken by CPCL in successfully conducting the On-site Emergency mock drill. He added that CPCL has always shown keen interest in implementing the statutory requirements and has been a fore runner in effecting safety measures to safe guard the neighbouring industries and Manali neighbourhood area. The observers presented their observations which were noted for compliance and implementation.
