Mr. K. Balachandran (54), has assumed charge as Managing Director of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) today (01.12.2009). He has over three decades of working experience in refineries of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), in line as well as staff functions, at its different locations across the country
His vast knowledge pertaining to refining business include preparation and evaluation of Feasibility Studies / Investment proposals, Procurement, Project Commissioning, Operations, Technical Services, Process Monitoring, Maintenance, Trouble Shooting and System Improvement. As Director (Operations) in CPCL from 2006, he spearheaded the profitability and reliability improvement initiatives of the company.
A widely traveled polyglot, Mr. K. Balachandran, is a Chemical Engineer, has been trained in Petroleum Refining Engineering at the Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun, in Refinery Planning and Economics at the College of Petroleum Studies, Oxford, U.K., and has attended the National Management Programme at the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.
