CSR Award from TNGovt for CPCL
Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Tamil Nadu has selected Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) as one of the recipients of the prestigious Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award for the year 2008-09 for having undertaken various social and economic upliftment programs within the State of Tamil Nadu. Mr.K.K.Acharya, Managing Director, CPCL, along with the Functional Directors received the cash award of Rs.5.00 Lakhs and a certificate from Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Government of Tamil Nadu Shri M.K.Stalin at the Secretariat on October 19. Senior officials of CPCL and the State Government were present.
On this occasion, the Managing Director of CPCL handed over a cheque for an amount of Rs.10 Lakhs to Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Government of Tamil Nadu towards Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
As a responsible corporate citizen, CPCL has been actively involved in discharging its social obligations by undertaking several sustainable welfare measures for the development of the society with focus on Health care, Education infrastructure, Sanitation, Supply of clean drinking water, Sports development, Tribal Development, Women empowerment, etc., For the year 2009-10, CPCL earmarked Rs.1.69 crore for the various CSR programmes.
In March 2009, CPCL was honoured with the prestigious ”Mother Teresa Award for Corporate Citizen 2008“ instituted by Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) in recognition of CPCL’s continued commitment to the development of the Society.
