CPCL's Oil Jetty named as Chidambaranar Oil Jetty

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) has set up a Crude Oil Jetty at a cost of about Rs.90 crore within the Port Limits of Nagapattinam for receipt of crude oil for its Cauvery Basin Refinery (CBR), at Panangudi near Nagapattinam. The Jetty was inaugurated by Shri Ram Naik, Hon'ble Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, on March 1, 2003. In his inaugural address, the Hon'ble Minister called upon the public to suggest a name for the Jetty and also announced a reward for those whose recommendations are accepted. Subsequently, CPCL received a number of nominations giving various names for the Oil Jetty.

Among the names received, 'Chidambaranar Oil Jetty' has been selected and the Jetty has been accordingly christened. This name has been suggested by twenty-eight persons. CPCL has decided to present each of the successful participants with a cash award of Rs.2,000/-.
