CPCL CONFERRED LIBA’S MOTHER TERESA AWARD

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) was conferred Mother Teresa Award for Corporate Citizen 2008 instituted by Loyola Institute Of Business Administration (LIBA), Chennai. LIBA has instituted this award in the name of Mother Teresa, the Angel of Mercy and Compassion, for Corporate Citizen in the year 1998 to uphold to management students, the corporate world and the general public a business enterprise as a role model in responsible Corporate Citizenship for its deep involvement in programmes of social responsibility beyond the call of its duty.
Dr C K Prahalad, a world renowned management consultant, author, and the Paul and Ruth McCracken Distinguished University Professor of Corporate Strategy at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business presented The Mother Teresa Award for Corporate Citizen 2008 to CPCL in a function held at LIBA in Loyola College campus, Nungambakkam, Chennai on Monday, 23rd March, 2009. Mr K K Acharya, Managing Director, CPCL received the award on behalf of the Company.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Acharya narrated CPCL’s outstanding social commitment and commendable involvement in programmes of corporate responsibility far beyond the call of petroleum refining , especially as a responsible corporate citizen. CPCL has been actively involved in discharging its social obligations by undertaking several sustainable as also welfare measures for the development of the society. He highlighted that CPCL’s Community Development Policy is formulated, dovetailing the vision/mission/objectives/goals of the company, thus giving a thrust to align CSR activities with the business operations of the company with social and environmental values.
