There was a oil sludge fire
near the Tank Farm at CPCL’s Manali Refinery at about
11.10 a.m. this morning (25.01.2005). The fire occurred during
a welding work undertaken adjoining the tank. Subsequently the
grass in the tank farm area also caught fire. CPCL’s fire
tenders immediately rushed to the area and put off the fire.
A column of dense black smoke arose due to
the burning of sludge and dry grass soaked in sludge. The situation
was brought under control within 30 minutes.
There was no injury to any personnel
and no damage to any property or product. Plant operations were
not affected by this incident.
