Mr. Ramnath Sankaran (56)
has been appointed as Director (Technical) of Chennai Petroleum
Corporation Limited (CPCL), by the Government of India. He assumed
charge on January 1. Mr. Sankaran succeeds Mr. M.P.Srinivasan
who retired on 31.12.2002 on attaining the age of superannuation.
Mr.Sankaran is a graduate in Electrical Engineering
from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)., Chennai. He has
more than three decades of experience in the Oil and Fertilizer
industry. Prior to joining CPCL in 1986, he had worked in the
Fertilizer industry for about 18 years. In CPCL, he has served
in various capacities in the Maintenance, Power and Utilities
and Projects Departments.
As the head of the Project Department,
he completed the "Green Fuel" DHDS Project. He is
also associated with the execution of 3 Million Metric Tonne
Per Annum (MMTPA) Expansion cum Modernization Project at a cost
of Rs.2360 crores, right from inception which is expected to
be completed by July 2003 as per schedule.
