Mr.K.Balachandran (51) has been appointed Director (Operations)
of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL). He assumed
charge on October 1.
Mr. K. Balachandran is a graduate in Chemical Engineering
from Govt. Engineering College, Trichur. He joined Indian
Oil Corporation in 1977 as a Graduate Engineer Trainee. He
has worked through various levels in the Refineries of IOCL
at Gujarat and Barauni, handling assignments in Operations,
Technical Services and Project Commissioning. He has also
served in the Refineries Division Headquarters of IOCL.
Mr.Balachandran has been trained in Petroleum Refining Engineering
at the Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun and in Refinery
Planning and Economics at the College of Petroleum Studies,
Oxford. He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from
the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon under the National
Management Programme.
Mr.Balachandran has been a regular faculty member at the
IndianOil Institute of Petroleum Management (IIPM) as well
as various training centres of IOC and other organizations.
He has also been a panelist in various technical sessions
organized by CHT, PETROTECH etc.
Prior to joining CPCL, Mr.Balachandran was General Manager
(Technical Services) at Gujarat Refinery of IOCL.
Mr.Balachandran is married and has two sons.
