INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT CPCL
Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (CPCL) Manali Refinery Complex this morning (15.8.2008). Mr.K.K.Acharya, Managing Director, CPCL, unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at an impressive parade by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) contingent stationed at CPCL. Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Acharya complimented the employees for the excellent physical and financial performance of CPCL during the first quarter of 2008-09. CPCL achieved a Net Profit of Rs.703 Cr during the first quarter which is the highest-ever quarterly profit in the history of the Company. He further stated that Fuel Quality upgradation project to Euro IV standards, the project for Refinery capacity expansion by 1.0 MMTPA are progressing as per schedule. Special Awards were presented to about 197 meritorious children of employees. The Managing Director also distributed long-service awards and suggestion scheme awards to the employees. A large number of CPCL employees and CISF personnel along with their family members participated in the celebrations. A cultural programme by the students’ added colour to the function. Earlier, Mr.Acharya hoisted the National Flag at CPCL’s Corporate Office at Teynampet. On the occasion of the Independence Day celebrations, a Health Camp was organized for the benefit of the people living in and around Manali area, which was inaugurated by Mrs.Sumita Acharya. Nearly 300 people were benefited by the camp.
