INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT CPCL

August 15, 2009

Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (CPCL) Manali Refinery Complex this morning (15.8.2009). Mr.K.K.Acharya, Managing Director, CPCL, unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at an impressive parade by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) contingent stationed at CPCL.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Acharya said the recently commissioned Sea Water Desalination Plant and Gas Turbine Plant would add reliability to CPCL’s Manali Refinery by meeting the water, power and utilities requirements. He further stated that CPCL would be investing Rs.7000 crore in the next five years on project which would add to its profitability. The future projects include Resid upgradation, Single Point Mooring off Ennore Port for receiving crude oil in Very Large Crude Containers (VLCC), getting prepared for utilizing Natural Gas in Manali refinery and Propylene unit expansion.

Special Awards were presented to meritorious children of employees, long-service awards to employees and suggestion scheme awards and awards to highest blood donors. Tricycles and Caliphers were also distributed to disabled persons on the occasion.

A large number of CPCL employees and CISF personnel along with their family members participated in the celebrations. A cultural programme by the students’ added colour to the function.

Earlier, Mr.Acharya hoisted the National Flag at CPCL’s Corporate Office at Teynampet.
