Mr. K.K.Acharya (56) has been
appointed as the Managing Director of Chennai Petroleum Corporation
Limited (CPCL) by the Government of India. He assumed charge
on 20.01.2006.
Mr. Acharya is an M.Tech in Chemical Engineering
from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He joined
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) in 1974. He has worked
through various levels in the Refineries of IOCL at Haldia,
Barauni, Gujarat and Panipet. He has also served in the Refineries
Division Headquarters of IOCL for about 5 years. He worked on
deputation as Head of Operations in Petronas, Malaysia for 3
years.
In a career spanning over 3 decades in the
Oil Sector, Mr.Acharya has worked in the fields of Operations,
Project Commissioning and Technical Services. During his tenure
in the Head Quarters of Refineries Division, he has also handled
strategic and corporate issues with close interaction with various
Ministries and other Government Agencies.
Prior to joining CPCL, Mr. Acharya was Executive
Director, Gujarat Refinery of IOCL.
