

Republic Day was celebrated
with enthusiasm at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited’s
(CPCL) Manali Refinery Complex this morning (26.01.2007).
Mr.K.K.Acharya, Managing Director, CPCL, unfurled the
National Flag and took the salute at an impressive parade
by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) contingent
stationed at CPCL.
Speaking on the occasion,
Mr.Acharya recalled the innumerable sacrifices of our forefathers
in the struggle for an Independent India. He announced that
CPCL Board had given in-principle approval for the project
for quality up gradation of MS and HSD to Euro IV standards
at a cost of about Rs.1665 crore, Resid Up gradation Project
at a cost of about Rs.3000 crore, Further he stated that
CPCL is also working on proposals like Propylene Expansion
project at a cost of about Rs.300 Crore and Refining Capacity
Augmentation projects at an estimated cost of Rs.350 crore
for Manali Refinery. These projects would enhance bottom
line and ensure that CPCL meets the stringent environment
norms.
Senior executives of CPCL
and a large number of employees along with their family
members participated in the celebrations. Service Awards/Suggestion
awards/Meritorious awards for employees’ children
were presented to the employees on the occasion.
Earlier, Mr.Acharya hoisted the National
Flag at CPCL’s Corporate Office at Teynampet.
