Vigilance Awareness Week is observed at Chennai Petroleum
Corproation Limited (CPCL) from November 6 to 10. The weeklong
celebrations were inaugurated by Mr D Mukherjee, Director
General of Police, Tamilnadu at CPCL's Corporate Office this
morning (06.11.2006).
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mukherjee, stressed the importance
of preventive vigilance in an organization and underlined
the need for departmental vigilance for its effective compliance.
He appreciated the existing vigilance systems and procedures
and e-governance methods followed inCPCL and also the exhibition
in display stands on various vigilance related activities
in CPCL.
In his presidential address, Mr N C Sridharan, Director (Finance),
CPCL, said occasions like these provide an opportunity to
reflect upon the value system. He also narrated the grown
of CPCL over the years and the complementary role played by
vigilance in decision making.
In connection with Vigilance Awareness Week, CPCL conducted
a painting competition to the visual communications students
of the Government Fine Arts College, Chennai. Of the entries
received, one design was selected for poster display, which
was released by the Director General of Police who also released
compendium of Vigilance Circulars.
Earlier Mr N Sankaran, Chief Vigilance Officer, CPCL, in
his welcome address emphasized the importance for transparency
in methods & process and fairness in decision-making.
Messages from the President, Vice-President and Central Vigilance
Commission were read. Mr N Sethurathinam, General Manager
(Vigilance), CPCL, proposed a vote of thanks. Mr S Chandrasekaran,
Director (Technical), senior executives and a large number
of employees were present on the occasion.
