Vigilance Awareness Week is
observed at Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) from
November 1 to 6. The week long celebrations were inaugurated
by Mr.R.N.Sawani, Joint Director (S), Central Bureau of Investigation
(CBI), Chennai, at CPCL’s Manali Refinery this morning
(01.11.2004).
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.R.N.Sawani, stressed
the importance of preventive vigilance in an organization and
underlined the need for strict adherence to systems and procedures.
He called for exhaustive and periodic review of the existing
systems and procedures with definite time limits and ensure
strict compliance by the officials concerned in order to curtail
corruptive practices even before they arise.
In his presidential address, Mr.S.V.Narasimhan,
Managing Director, CPCL, said occasions like these provide an
opportunity to reflect upon our value system. He called upon
the employees to be transparent in their decision-making process.
Earlier, he administered the vigilance awareness pledge to the
employees.
In connection with Vigilance Awareness Week,
CPCL conducted a painting competition to the visual communications
students of the city colleges. Of the entries received, one
design was selected for poster display, which was released by
the Joint Director (S), CBI.
Earlier Mr.R.Sankaran, Director (Technical),
welcomed the gathering. Messages from the President, Vice-President,
Prime Minister and Central Vigilance Commissioner were read
by Mr.N.Sethurathinam, Chief Vigilance Officer (in charge),
CPCL, who also proposed a vote of thanks.
